Hey everybody, I wanted you to know that we just completed a great update to this website. You won't notice anything by looking at the website. But, in the back-end, we just updated all of our databases and code. The result is a much faster experience across the website. I am super excited that this will further help all of us learn about heart valve surgery and communicate with each other. Keep on tickin! Adam
P.S. To Lily, all of the URLs remain exactly the same.

Hey Everybody, I'm seeing a lot of GREAT questions being posted by Whitney and many other members in our community (see below). I wanted to let y'all know that you can also use the search bar in the top of each page to find a lot of information that may have already been posted by the awesome members of our community. It's one way to maybe answer your questions. At the same time, you can always post your questions as well. I hope that helps!!! Adam (patient & website founder)
For those of you interested to learn more about transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), I just posted this patient success story of Stella McClellan. As you will hear, Stella, 70, was told that she was going to die from her severe aortic stenosis. This is her story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Y1tygm4iQA
Many thanks to Charlyn and Billy for catching the issue with the Save Button in the 'Edit My Valve Story' feature on the site. To make sure you can easily save your stories, we moved the button to the top of the page. Please see below -- or you can see it in my pictures. I hope that helps!!
Relaunch Update: Notification System & Photo Comments
Journal posted on October 16, 2014
Here's a quick relaunch update... We have noticed that many of you are posting thoughtful, caring and fun comments on the awesome pictures that are being uploaded by our patients, their families and friends.
So... To help you keep up with all the picture comments, we just added that capability to your Notification System. Now, if somebody posts a comment to a picture you posted or commented on, the little red heart in the top navigation will notify you. (This feature is for logged in users only.)
Fyi... You may have noticed that your notifications just increased as we implemented this additional capability minutes ago. That is the reason for the notification increase.
It's so great to see all the wonderful pictures (Melinda, Olga, Steve, etc.) and all the great comments (Ruth, Pat, Linda, LaVonne).
Keep on tickin!
Adam (patient & website founder)
P.S. If you like, you can always reset your notifications to zero by clicking the 'Mark as Read' link after clicking the heart.
I wanted you all to know that we will be making some changes to the website today.
1. The top navigation of the website is going to change a little bit. Given your feedback, we are going to position the "Community" section as the first tab in the navigation.
2. Yesterday, we noticed an issue with Rachel's auto-generated email notifications from her journal. So, we will be working on a fix for that.
3. Given the increase usage of the "Community" section, we are going to have to upgrade our servers... Again!!!
4. We are aware of three small issues with our new Notification System thanks to feedback from Daniel, Karen and Ginger.
I am hopeful that these changes will not interrupt your use of the website. However, if you notice any intermittent slowness in the website, please be patient. We are working as fast as possible to get these changes implemented.
Thanks for your ongoing patience and support!!!
Keep on tickin!

Good news! Last week, we expanded our notification system for journal posts -- so that you can see when someone comments on a journal that you also had posted on.
Today, we just expanded the notification system to include Guestbook posts as several great conversations are happening in the Guestbooks.
We are working through this implementation right now. You may have noticed that your Guestbook notifications just sky rocketed. Mine jumped to 90 (see picture below). That's because your archived Guestbook comments are being displayed.
The new notification system expands to Guestbook posts.
New Feature: A Pop-Up To Prevent Duplicate Posts
Journal posted on October 6, 2014
Hey everybody! I've received some good feedback and seen an issue about posting comments. Sometimes, our members -- by accident -- click the "Post" button twice to confirm that their comments get posted.
Earlier today, we implemented a new system where a pop-up notification, known as an interstitial, will occur to prevent duplicates. You can see an image of this interstitial at my pictures section.
Great news everybody! Thanks to your feedback, we are making some changes to the new Notification System in the top navigation -- that little red or white heart icon that you can click on. Please be patient as we adjust the code. Thanks again! Adam
