I met with a new cardiologist, and for the first time have a real game plan for myself. I learned so much from this doctor within one visit more than I have know within the last year. I have two blockages but they don’t need stents but in time they might. He also told me my wonderful surgery my doc did something left atrial appendage which means I dont have to worry about afib and he did me a great favor. My ldl cholesterol was 249 my primary doc knock it down either way rostuvastatin to 209. My cardiologist wants it to 55. Im like so I dont eat - he put in a script for injections Rapathal which I do once every two weeks. He wants me to drink water before I get up water before I eat lunch and water before dinner to curb appetite and get the 64 oz intake. I told him I haven’t been the same since surgery and he confirmed being on the ventilator can mess up your neurological system but he say put it low on your list. I’m going to check for sleep apnea. Apparently he had another patient prior to me come from the same doctors office - validation in my eyes. The best here’s my card call me anytime if you have questions or problems. I found my forever cardiologist. Sorry for the long rant but for those who I got to know and those who don’t don’t give up if something seems off or your not comfortable with your care of service. It’s your heart.

Richard Munson Great. Maybe things will turn positive now. As in every business, there are good and bad doctors. I remember one blaming my foot pain on my age. I dumped him. The new doctor diagnosed gout and cured it in a week. Btw, that first doctor is still in practice probably giving out bogus information to others who just accept it.

Deena Z Klara, so good to hear from you again! We need a photo of your kids, please:) They are at the age, where they go so fast. Regarding the vagal episodes, I have episodes where my BP plummets; I am so weak I go to the ground, have a full body sweat, and once I vomited. Fortunately, I have yet to totally pass-out. Lovely, is it not! My first episode was in cardiac rehab. Now that I have increased my sodium intake, especially when exercising, I have it somewhat under control. (Thank you for asking:)

Suzette Schear Klara I had lost footing and also would be lighted headed and fall to the ground I thought it was pump head. apparently all the the meds given take a long time to come out of your system that’s what I kept researching -my surgery was 6 hours and my head was laying in one position. I thought that caused it but to be honest as time went on a lot of those symptoms finally dissipated. I was told to move slow sit-up wait and then stand up. I did for a long time. Sodium was very helpful also drink water I didn’t realize I wasn’t drinking a lot of water.

Robert Miller Do I read your message wrong or you are falling sometimes? Because of coordination or because you get dizzy? If it's the former, you need to discuss it with your primary doctor. If it's for the later, you need to discuss it with your cardiologist. For a while I was on some medicine and when I went down on my knees and got up, I would get dizzy for a few seconds. The medicine was finally stopped and that went away. Besides medicine, there might be other things going on if you fall every so often. As for people, some just have it in their nature to help and others are just plain ignorant up to being rude.

Kimberly Eisenhut Suzette, I stopped taking my multivitamin also, since I read articles on how most of them do not even get absorbed and are not getting what it says on the bottle at all. I took centrum silver for women over 50 for 10 years, but really donot think it did much. I had a problem similar once with a nurse before my TEE that had a hard time getting blood and routing around in the vein. I think it was because I had not drank anything since the night before as told not to and I know if you are dehydrated, it can be hard to get it to flow. Make sure you drink plenty of water, that may help. Congrats on the raise, and hope you can find some peace with your cuddly teddy bear

It was nice for them to understand and have let me worked from home. It was probably one of the major challenges I had in life and kept it low key. My primary doctor is helping me get back to basics since the heart doc and neurologist were not agreeing making me a bit neurotic . He did blood work and I have high cholesterol and doesn’t think the vitamins were doing me any good. They are water soluble. I’m just trying to find out why the weight gain and why I am tired. I’m not obese but don’t have energy and balance is still a bit off. I have hope where as before it just was test after test to rule out stuff. Still missing my Tiger that’s just a broken heart that no surgeon can help . Kim I’m hoping they got some of your stuff under control.

I won’t stay that way but with the doctors stretching for things to be wrong and going on all these test, and appointments I decided to stopping see all doctors , not agreeing, i just give my self time away from them all. I went on vacation took an easy day in Everglades on a trolley ride and air boat. The other days all moving. I got to wonderful to do things. I will never be the same and I’ve come to accept that but I good. It took me a year and 4 months. We actually drove down from Long Island straight through to Fla -due to closing up condo and needed car to bring stuff back. Very long ride. I figured it will make us stronger or I’m taking the plane back. I drove a tiny bit 3& 1/2 hours until we almost got swiped by big trailer and I had to go to bumpy side of the road and woke Mike up. I watch the legs for blood clots. I was able to reset my mind and I feel better. I’m more steady on my feet though my circulation can be off and rolled my foot. Ouch. 1 more fall but I’m going to plays, concert and work. I got to meet George clones and some cool alligators .

Robert Miller I lost quite a bit of weight during the days after surgery because I just didn't have much appetite. Then I gained it again and some more. It could be because for the first 2-3 months you can't do the same activities as you used to do. And if you are 50+ it's just harder to lose weight. Having said that, if you gain a considerable amount of weight within a short time (like 2lb/day) after you leave the hospital then you might have water accumulation. But I think you had your surgery a while ago so that's probably not the case here.

Rose Madura Suzette, I lost about 20 pounds just after surgery and then gained about half back. Then the company I retired from called me out of retirement for 6 months and I gained 15 pounds in that 6 months. Then I re-retired and actually lost 10 pounds during COVID because I'd walk nearly every day for a few miles. I suspect I'm much older than you but it is hard to lose weight after a certain age and especially after a menopause. My point in all this is that I fluctuated constantly and still do. With all the health issues you've had recently, it's probably that. But if it concerns you too much, check in with your PCP. Sorry for being so wordy. 🥺

I’m not happy about having OHS but I am grateful for the lessons I learned and joyful for the second chance of life I have been given. I also pray for those who kindly commented or reached out, those waiting surgery and those now on the other side recovery during this holiday season.

Margaret Fielden So very pleased Suzette that the low vitamin levels are identified. Both those can cause very serious neurological problems as you have experienced. So I thank God for an answer and for the treatment now available. Wonderful news! Not that you have such problems but that they are identified and treatable.
Richard Munson Great news for xmas. Now go have a stiff drink and celebrate.

Margaret Fielden It is good you have an answer. Vitamin deficiency can cause serious neurological problems so praying this is the whole answer for you. Will it be vitamin in pill form or injection? I am stronger in many ways but still have the atrial fibrillation from the operation and I am still taking antibiotics for the patches of pneumonia in the lungs. Stupidly, it is the spinal injury giving me more pain than the heart surgery. I have a telephone appointment with the spine consultant tomorrow. It is the base of my spine so I can't sit or lie down without discomfort. Keeps me standing and walking! How is Tiger, any results from his op? Blessings

Suzette Schear Check list is over. I use the journal so I can refer back to time dates of test as well as my ever growing folder. I haven’t collapsed since so I’m not afraid anymore. Still get the waves of imbalance . I feel like all I do is complain so I have refrained from posting. The heart necklace was from my ex husband he gave it to me years ago. He is one of my best friends and we keep in touch.

Richard Munson Good news. Now get outside today in the sunshine
Suzette Schear Rita, you’re funny. I should have walked away with them and use it as a Halloween costume.

Robert Miller I had to google svt. I am no expert in this area but I don't believe this is neurological. This is an issue of how the "electrical" system works. This is a bit a complex issue and depends on what procedure you had, what medicine you are taking, etc. You might want to get a second opinion.

Cardio monitor results - I have ventricular bigeminy. My heart has premature heartbeat. Gemini with two heart beats -ironic. Most beats are 60-100 bpm. Mine range is 50-175. My test showed 1 ventricular tachycardia & 3 Supra ventricular tachycardia one had 175 bpm. Super high heart muscle contracting. Explains the tiredness, dizziness among other stuff. Seeing my cardiologist to discuss results & see next course of action. Thank you for all your encouragement while I play Sherlock Holmes. I knew something was so wrong. I actually fell asleep on the way home in the train yesterday( I’m last stop) a stranger woke me up. I can’t wait to get part of my life back.
