About Me

I was 31 when they found my bicuspid aorta and discovered that stenosis had set in. Over the next 22 years, it was monitored by echoes every year or two. The first week in October, when I switched cardiologists, he ordered a heart cath to be done, and during that heart cath they realized that my echocardiograms had been way under reporting the level of stenosis. It was a lot worse than they knew, and while I was laying on the table looking up at the monitors, he told me that I needed to have surgery much sooner than they had previously thought. Instead of years, he said he wouldn’t wait any more than a month or two. So, over the last two weeks I have met with three different surgeons at three different hospitals and have decided to go with the Inspiris Resilia valve, to be installed up at Duke Medical.
