Editorial Guidelines

By Adam Pick - Patient, Author & HeartValveSurgery.com Founder

The following editorial guidelines have been established by HeartValveSurgery.com to govern various aspects of sponsorship and sponsored content on HeartValveSurgery.com.  You can learn more about our sponsoship program here

As used in this policy, the terms “Sponsored Content” include badges, contextual advertising and collaborative educational materials including articles, blog posts, videos, infographics and eBooks.

The guidelines in this policy govern issues such as acceptance of Sponsored Content by HeartValveSurgery.com, how sponsorship materials and educational placements are displayed on HeartValveSurgery.com, and the removal of such information from HeartValveSurgery.com.

HeartValveSurgery.com has the discretion with respect to interpretation and enforcement of this policy and all other issues associated with "Sponsorsed Content". HeartValveSurgery.com may change this policy at any time in its discretion by posting a revised policy on HeartValveSurgery.com with a revision date as provided for and referenced herein.

HeartValveSurgery.com has the discretion for determining the types of sponsorship materials that will be accepted and displayed on HeartValveSurgery.com, and under no circumstances will HeartValveSurgery.com's acceptance of any sponsorship materials be considered an endorsement of the product(s) and/or service(s) advertised or for the entity that advertises, manufactures, distributes, or promotes products or services.

HeartValveSurgery.com will not accept promotional materials that, in HeartValveSurgery.com's opinion, is not factually accurate and in good taste.

There are certain categories of advertisements that HeartValveSurgery.com will not permit on HeartValveSurgery.com. These categories include but are not limited to the following:

HeartValveSurgery.com retains discretion for determining the types of Sponsored Content that will be accepted and displayed on HeartValveSurgery.com, and under no circumstances shall HeartValveSurgery.com's acceptance of any sponsorship materials be considered an endorsement of the products or services advertised or for the company that advertises, manufactures, distributes, or promotes the product(s) or service(s).

HeartValveSurgery.com recognizes and maintains a separation between Sponsored Content, and editorial content.  Any Sponsored Content on the HeartValveSurgery.com website will be identified as such.  For example, you will notice that Sponsored Content is often identified with a red heart and the word "Sponsored" on sponsored content.  For example, you can see this on Surgeon Profile pages (e.g. Dr. Gillinov's profile page) and Hospital Profile pages (e.g. Northwestern Medicine's profile page).

In addition, you will notice that other services across HeartValveSurgery.com include the word "Sponsored" in the specific advertisement (e.g. side margin callouts) for services including the Featured Surgeon service and the Heart Hospital Logo service.

"Sponsored Content" is also referenced and identifed, when applicable, at social media channels including Facebook.

If you have any questions regarding the editorial guidelines referenced above, please contact Adam Pick at adam@heartvalvesurgery.com or call (888) 725-4311.  Thank you!
