Learned I had a bicuspid aortic valve during a cardiovascular screening for bariatric surgery in late 2013. Calcification of the valve is severe; however, gradients are in the moderate range at rest. During a stress test in May 2025, we discovered that areas of the left ventricle are severely hypokinetic, and the ECG was abnormal, which explains the symptoms experienced during exercise. Aortic valve replacement is scheduled to take place in August.
