Margaret Fielden Hi Karen, Thank you for showing your wound and for the encouraging photo eight months later in Italy. I was to have the same surgeries as yours on October 5th but it is postponed because I got covid the day before. So six weeks to wait. You have given me hope. Thank you

Karen Hommel Margaret you will be fine. I went home in 4 days. Walking is the key. I never took pain meds in the hospital or at home except for tramadol or Tylenol, amazing. Waiting is hard, just decide to enjoy your day each day. Worrying solves nothing, but i know it’s difficult. I hope you are feeling well and will say a prayer for you every day 🙏

Margaret Fielden Thank you Karen, you will be my inspiration. I have been so anxious, but I think I will make the most of each day before my surgery now. Amazingly, we have had summer weather here in the UK in October so I'm enjoying the garden. The covid isn't bad. I'm focusing on getting back to my home in Crete in the spring after surgery. Thank you so much for your support and prayers. Keep ticking and enjoying life, you have faced a lot of health problems. Have a wonderful October celebration!

I am over 4 weeks post-op, surgery October 6, discharge October 10. The surgery was immediately successful. Mitral valve replacement, tricuspid valve repair, Maze procedure, atrial clip. Thank you Dr Robert Riley for saving my life! The first 2 weeks at home were challenging. I gained 20 lb of post-op fluid which is not unusual. I was on lasix at home for 1 week, but I wasn’t eating and had to keep replenishing fluids and electrolytes. The lasix was successful but the second week I wasn’t breathing well. I had a cardiologist appt that week. Chest X-ray revealed fluid in the lungs, no pneumonia. One more week of lasix which i started feeling better in 3 days. Now I am walking a lot, eating well, doing daily activities and taking many breaks. This is a long process, do not get discouraged, enjoy the baby steps. I am so proud to be among all of you warriors!
