I was already from birth checked for a heart murmur but no one told or said something about bicuspid aortic valve. They stopped following me in my early teenage said that it all looked good.
I did train a lot 4-5 times per week all year around playing field hockey both in my club and the national team and never felt that there was something wrong. I did that until I was around 28-30 when both work started to take more time and our first kid came.
Then not much happened until a health check at work where the told I had a heart murmur and my silly answer was yes I know, I have always had it and when they asked if I felt I lost my breath under physical activity my answer was no.
At that time I was 48 years old. Then looking back from when Lightning stuck me, July 2024 53 years realize I was not listening to my body and just blamed it on that I was getting old and worked to much.
All the signals where there, loosing my breath, getting dizzy sometimes when I run, more tired. I remember one time running in 2023 I almost fainted after 4,5 km and had to sit down on a stone and then walk back the last 2.
Just imagine the feeling 7 weeks after the surgery running past that stone, not in a high pace but still running, I cried.
I am back to an almost normal life, I know I have to be on “gold contract for maintenance and as they say at work/or I do I am a half cyborg/terminator with the mechanical valve, the stents, coils and metal I have in the repaired kidney artery. And as one of my group managers said you are a terminator but a nice one with caring heart and sent me these fotos.
