Today it is 2 years on the day for my surgery where the replaced my aortic valve. They rolled me in for surgery 3 hours from now, I was scared to death but I still remember the nurse that took my hand and said now we fix you up and then the next thing that I remember is waking up in intensive care room still with a lot of stuff connected but so happy. Could talk to my family after a few hours again. I am so happy for getting a second chance and I am a bit of a Cyborg/Terminator one, hopefully a nice version with a lot of artificial stuff in my body not only the St Judge regent mechanical valve but also from the repair efforts of the kidney artery anerysm with stents, hoses, coiling.. which they catch at the security checks at the airports. Some differences now and then. 2 years ago in a sick bed connected and now laying on a sun bed on vacation. Then putting small tagets of more and more steps like in the corridor at the hospital some days after going from 100 m to 200 m.. back home trying to reach 2000, 3000, 4000 .. to now walking down to the beach and walking in the mountains on the vacation. The picture with most of the family at the dinner table is one a of these that amazes me most on this journey. It is the 7th of August 2024, our 25 anniversary wedding day. It is 8 days after an open heart surgery. I still had pain, I still did not know what was in front of me but I was alive… Golf picture is from the first round last season where my special force head cover Yoda is with me. It is hand made by our assistant at work and I got it when I was back from surgery to give me more powers. (Yes I like Star Wars). The photo in front of the old building is from UK Stonehouse Court Hotel from my first business trip after all surgeries and lifted travel restrictions. I landed in Heathrow London, which is also special because it was in London where all this started and they flew me home from there. I cried when I arrived again. The winter picture is from our first ski vacation again last winter which was also a major milestone in what I wanted to do. Lots have happed during these 2 years, it have been a journey with ups and downs but I say like Elton John sings, I’m still standing and I am happy that I have been this lucky. It is a slightly different different life now knowing that you have these repairs and have to take bloodthinners but I can live a very normal life even if I will always be on a special maintenance program, or ”Gold Contract ” as we say where I work.
