So update on the aneurysm. On my echo back in November they said it had grown from 4.2- to 4.5 cm. I went to the cardiologist yesterday for my annual check and she said it really has been steady for the past 8 years. Depending on how they measure the "wall" of the aorta, they will get a different reading. She re read the echo herself and found it be pretty much the same. So, I've been flustered for 3 months for basically nothing.! I was wondering why it would start to grow at this point when all is stable with the valve etc. So, I have another echo in May just to check and then if we see discrepancies, she will order a CTA just to "put it to bed" as she says. No need for radiation when not necessary. I posted this just in case someone else out there has the same issue. Talk to your doctor and hear what they have to say. Some of these tests are very volatile and depending on who does the marking and/or reading the results can be different!

IDK if its what we think it is, but, its something. they told us some very strange facts, that would make one think.

Hi All I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. So an update on my echo. the valve is doing well , no stenosis, but, my aortic root went from 4.2-4.5 cm. My doc said we will watch it, but, I'm kind of concerned as to how and why this would happen with a functioning valve. She said maybe stress, or elevated bP, I take meds and its usually normal. Anyone have any thoughts. I have a gut feeling that the tech didnt measure correctly? I'm having another one in May. maybe its just wishful thinking.. but this tech got my measurement a bit higher a few years ago too. not this much. Well, at this point, not much I can do, except wait.

Richard Munson I was told that a ct scan is more accurate but i got that info here. My cardiologist always double checks the tech echo reading but the tech has been the same guy since first discovered. Same set of eyes. Its all that traveling. You need to stay in masshole and relax. Lol.

Marie Myers I agree that the CT scan will be more accurate. How disappointing that the root has enlarged now… Makes me feel lucky to have had the trifecta of ascending, root and valve all at once. But then again, who knows what the next echo will show? Life with all its twists and turns is a mystery! Enjoy Scotland !!

Reminded me of my homeland Italy. thankfully Zagreb was slightly less hilly but still more so than what I have here in Mass. I think between the hills and steps and their amazing olive oil, those people will live forever. Richard, I missed Klara. hahaha

Happy Valveversary to me! Today makes 7 years with my Edwards Valve. I'm so thankful for all I have and Thank the Lord for modern medicine. Those of you who are just getting your valves, you will be fine. Thankfully I feel good, walk 3 miles a day with my German Shepard ,Cairo, do Fit Barre classes 2x a week and train with a trainer 2x a week. So far so good. Best to all of our heart friends and espeically class of 2017!

Hello heart brothers and sisters, just wanted my friends to know that my yearly echo was very good so another year down. I wanted to share some pictures of a trip I just took to Stockholm. Its a beautiful city, though it was frigid. But, as a child of the 70s I got to visit the ABBA musuem and had a fantastic time singing all the songs. I feel so blessed I can do this thanks to modern techonology and Grace of God. Best to all of you especially the class of 2017!

I also had a quick stop in London for a wedding which was out of this world. it was a palace that belonged to King Henry VIII and spectacular. I have been blessed as we all have. But, I think I will take a break for a few months and plan the next adventure. Susan, the ABBA museum is a must if you are an ABBA fan. I learned so many things about them that I didnt know and its really interactive so you can do fun things. I could have spent all day in there.

Hi.. its been a while since I posted. I wanted to share some pictures of my trip to Turkey. Thankfully I was able to climb all these rocks in Capadoccia and all the hills in Instanbul with no issues. The only thing that stopped me was my fear of heights, though I did get on a hot air balloon and it was out of this world. I feel so blessed..

Civita Fahey Richard, I think he likes the Fall better.. I walk him 4 miles a day.. I hate the heat so he wasn't getting his long walks on those hot days we had this summer. Plus as you know Sheperds like the cold. He is a love.. doing well with his training, though he's still a pup and will have his days. As they say, GSD are like T rexes until they are about 2 years old . That is very true, so still unpredictable. He missed me while I was on my 2 week trip to Italy.. He is pretty much attached at the hip right now. hahaha

Hi All. Just wanted to update my Class of 17 that my yearly echo is totally stable. So 5 years plus ( cow valve) and going strong.. I had a wonderful trip to Italy in September to see my family and I walked an average of 5-6 miles per day in hilly Italy.. I felt great. I hope all of you are doing well. For those in the waiting room, you will be fine.. Time heals us all and things do get back to normal.. Best to all.

When they say time flies, it does. I cant believe its been 5 years since my AVR. Like everyone says, outside of the scar which is slowly fading, I wouldn't know I had OHS. Very grateful that all is still good, though the bones are feeling my activities more as I get into my 60s. Good thing the heart is still going strong. To those waiting in the wings, you can do this.. the waiting is hard but, have faith and all will be well.. Thanks to all the great people on this site and happy anniversary to the Class of 17'!

Civita Fahey Hi guys.. I'm on day six of symptoms and day 9 of exposure. Feeling ok. really like a bad head cold. No fever, no SOB, just get tired easily. Kind of like when recovering from OHS. I've had a tough week, my father in law passed away last Tuesday ( age 92 God Bless him) and the services are this Thursday and I don't think I can go. I feel awful about it, he was a good man and I want to be there. I am going to check with my doctor as CDC told me that it would be day 10 so if I double mask I should be ok as long as I don't have any fever. I don't want to expose my mother in law of 87 years nor anyone else. I don't know about any of you but I don't ever want to hear the word COVID again..I am so done with it. I get my next vaccine on the 16th and I cant wait.. Please everyone get vaccinated, its safe and hopefully it will bring us all back to somewhat normal soon. People are suffering out there in so many ways, just from the mental stress of COVID never mind the health issues with it. thank you all for being so caring.. this is such a wonderful group to be a member of.

Hi All.. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and staying safe.. I have a question. I saw my cardiologist the other day and she said my peak mean gradient is up a slightly. it was up last year and again this year. Nothing major. She also said it could be a variety of reasons, dehydration and some other things. Also, she said at times, this happens and it stabilizes. the valve itself looks good. She basically said to keep an eye on it. Just wondering if anyone has had this? I'm 3.5 years from replacement. No symptoms that I can tell. Still very active. Trying not to think too much about it, but, that's not easy for me. Thanks for your thoughts.

I’m able to read the report since I have access and it did say that it’s not sure really if it’s a rise and could be I was a bit dehydrated which I could Have been. So I should just not worry. I’ll see her in November and ask a few more questions. Marie let me know when you’re coming up. Would love to meet up.

HI All: Can't believe that my 3 year anniversary is coming up this week. It still at times seems like yesterday. With the Pandemic issue going on and my being busy with work, though we have taken a huge hit in healthcare, I haven't looked at the site as often. But, I will always consider this place my safe haven with all my heart brothers and sisters. I feel good and am actually walking more than before since my gym is closed so that's a good thing, things still feel good. Hopefully they are on the inside.
