Wow. 5:25:56...
It has long been a goal of mine to finish a full marathon. Cannot believe it's only 18 months post surgery. Last 5 miles was pure will power...
It does get better and communities like this opens your eyes to the process. Believe me,

Congratulations! I was thinking of you this morning, (specifically, your reference to a Post-Traumatic Growth TED talk), and I logged in for the first time in a long time - and here you are, finishing a marathon! You've been inspirational and incredibly helpful to me, and I'm sure, many others... Read more.

Wow, that is fantastic. I know what you mean about the last five. When I was healthier, i did four half marathons and it seems like that last push is a big mental game. Keep up the great work.

after finishing a half-marathon on my 6 month anniversary... setting a big audacious, hairy goal like running one was great motivation during cardiac rehab...

Congrats dude, that quite an accomplishment. In my younger days I ran quite a few halfs and complete marathons. I would run halfs at sub 1:25:00 and full marathons sub 3 hours. Now i'm good to jog at 12-13 minute pace. That gets me out of breath now. :-)
Good for you!
Congrats Ole! You were an inspiration to me going before me through this OHS thing!
Awesome!

4 weeks post op and time to post my smiling scar selfie. 4 weeks post op and snuck in a run on the treadmill. I am starting to feel normal again. I've been cleared to drive, lift my kids and do most things. Going back to work at 6 weeks.... Read more.

Congratulations.... Incision healing nicely ....
Way to go Ole! So excellent to see and read about you doing so well. Keep it up!
Excellent! Good for you!
You look great Ole! Congrats! Jogging on treadmill? You're the man! I'm not quite at 4 weeks yet with "minimally invasive" MVR on Dec. 16, but don't feel up to treadmill jog yet...just about 3.3 pace for 30 minutes. Way go go!
Congratulations Ole!
very nice Ole , keep up the good work
Looking great -- nice recovery 😀
One year out, wish my scar looked that good....
You are doing great! Keep up the good work.
Thanks guys! Cheryl - I usually stay at 3.8 and go for an hour. As I'm starting cardiac rehab tomorrow I decided to sneak in a couple of minutes running, just to see how it felt. I as soar but survived. Onto my next marathon. Need to find one though.... Read more.
Honestly most annoying part about my recovery: chest hair growing back itches!
