Kathy Santoro Sorry for the trouble. I had some symptoms like yours for quite awhile and was dx with post pericardiotomy syndrome.
Colchicine and ibuprofen helped bring my inflammation markers down. If they haven't done crp and sed rate suggest. Hospitalist during my readmit didn't do them. My cardiologist did and they were very elevated. That's a hallmark of the syndrome with that pain on inspiration.

John Morales Almost 3 weeks post OHS 2 valves repaired , scar is healing well surgeon discharged me back to cardio said i looked great I said now if i only felt great still get very tired still a bit numb on my right hand still cant sleep well and still foggy head its a sinus or ear thing but im glad to be alive. And i guess im improving a bit, thought going out today wore me out.. know it will take time and patience I'm tryin to stay off the couch and being lazy during the day not easy when your exhausted and don't get much sleep .God is good.

Rita Savelis "Lazy" is really okay, John. Everything is okay. You're not doing anything wrong. Listen to your body. Give yourself a break. One short walk a day can wear you out for the rest of the day. I spent a lot of time on the sofa staring out into space. I watched more TV than ever before. Healing takes a lot of energy. You'll heal in your own time. A lot doesn't depend on you. Your whole system has been through a shock. You can't see your heart, but if you had a broken leg you'd give yourself a break. You deserve a big break right now. Two valve repairs is more then one.

Mike Roskowinski Keep pushing through John! Before you know it you will be ready to run the next Boston Marathon! Someday I will be on that recovery side and not sure what to expect for myself but I am hoping to get it done in April and get in a round of golf before the summer ends!! Right now I am in the goal setting mode for my recovery. Thinking maybe if I set goals to where I want to be at in certain weeks it might help me push through the recovery. God bless and yes he is amazing to give us all a chance with these excellent surgeons to extend our lives!!

Meredith Bray Woohoo! Pretty soon you'll be celebrating your 1-year and wonder where the time went. So....keep walking, keep doing the breathing exercises, take a lot of naps.
Avoid back & shoulder pain by making sure your head/neck/shoulders are supported when you're resting. Use a travel pillow under your neck, and wedge some bed pillows under your arms when you're sitting.
When you're standing & walking, use your best and most exceptional posture. Learn to really use those core muscles that hold you upright, they will truly help you avoid excruciating back/shoulder blade pain.
