About Me

Hey everyone, I am so glad that I came across this website/community! It has given me positivity and hope that I have found others with similar stories and great outcomes. It sucks we have to endure this, but we are warriors and we will rise! My story is pretty wild and crazy. I was diagnosed at the age of 3 with a VSD. I have been monitored over the years and cleared to play sports and live a normal life. Fast forward to now at age 37(38 on the 19th) I was having chest pain, palpitations, and fluttering. I had a echo done along with a TEE. My cardiologist found that I possibly had 2 congenial heart defects at one point in time as there was no signs of a VSD anymore, but in fact a ruptured Sinus of Vasalva aneurysm. I had a Heart Cath done which thankfully showed all my arteries are clear. My just had my consultation with my heart surgeon on Tuesday and he stated the 4 options he has on the table: 1) patching the hole with harvested pericardium, 2) move my right coronary artery up and tighten it to the hole, 3) grab a artery in leg and do a bypass, and last option 4) replace aortic valve. We are hoping for option 1!!!!, but he won't 100 percent know until he opens me up. If you are still holding on and reading, thank you!! I am nervous as heck, but know I am in good hands and it needs to be fixed.
