About Me

I was diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis in October. I see an endocrinologist for my thyroid and a couple years ago he heard a hear murmur. I didn't think much about it until this past July when he heard it again and strongly suggested I see my family doctor. Had an echocardiogram and was referred to a cardiologist for the diagnosis. It was quite a surprise since I didn't think I was experiencing symptoms. Finding this site and reading Adam's book have been extremely helpful. I had a heart cath and discovered I'm severely allergic to the contrast dye...yikes! I'm having a CT scan without contrast next week and hope to schedule surgery for mid to late January. Fingers crossed I can have minimally invasive surgery. Still not sure on tissue or mechanical valve, but since I'm in my early 50s the mechanical valve may be a better option.
