Michael Zernell I hope all went well today. I will be going in at 5:15am for mine. We aren't sure what all will need done for sure, the one thing that is for sure is that my Aortic valve is shot, there wasn't much in the line of choices either. I am getting a Bovine or a Homograph based on the condition of the valve.

Hi Lisa - we are a similar age and I too have thyroid problems and aortic valve stenosis. I see that your surgery is this coming Monday and I wish you all the best!I don’t have a date yet - awaiting a different CT scan, then they will decide on minimally invasive or not. I am in Liverpool, England, and Only just found this site - I am beyond terrified at the thought of the operation! Good luck Monday - I will look out to see your post-op progress!

Lisa, Hi! Just a quick note to tell you I will be praying for your surgery. In 2009 I had my aortic valve replaced with a natural valve (I am not a good pill patient) and aortic stem repaired. Here it is 9 years later and I feel fine and have my yearly heart review with an echo and there seems to be no problem as yet. At 77 now I am looking for another decade before I may need more help. Can do all things without concern. Stay close to God and He will stay close to you.
Lisa McLaughlin Thank you Jim! I appreciate the encouraging words and thoughts.

Hi Lisa. Interested in your issues as I too have been recently diagnosed. I'm a bit behind you in progress though. Do you know why you have this problem as you are fairly young for this as am I apparently! First time I'm being called young in a long time.
I'm interested to know why you are having the minimally invasive option. I woukd like that too but don't know if I'm suitable.
Best wishes
Susan
Did you know you had this condition for a while or did they just spring it on you

Lisa McLaughlin It was a surprise...doctor heard a heart murmur for the first time a couple years ago. Heard it again in August and ordered an echo and referred me to a cardiologist. I'm not having any symptoms, which isn't uncommon from what I've learned.
