With the team that sewed/made my valve at Edwards Lifesciences Patient Experience. I encourage anybody who is interested who has an Edwards valve to request going. (Here's the link: https://www.edwards.com/patients-care-partners/patient-resources/patient-experience/the-patient-experience-sign-up-form) To meet the folks who made the valve that is keeping you alive is special. (Understatement.)

Herb Greenberg Thanks all. Ana, you remain an inspiration. Marie/Andrew thanks. John!!!! Glad to see you are doing so well, as well. The good news, John, is that if we need it replaced, we were both likely sized for TAVR. I met a lot of TAVR folks, including one guy who had his tricuspid replaced via transcatheter. It's all in the "amazing" category.

Hi all, today is my 3-year anniversary. Encouraging comments on this site helped me go into surgery with a sense of excitement rather than fear or dread. Attitude going in is SO important and if you're wondering... yes, there is a great life post-surgery. I did this quick video as proof. Enjoy!

Herb Greenberg Thanks all, and Steven - thrilled. Before my surgery I had some image of me being a near invalid for a short while. Just the opposite. Let's put it like this: I was staying at a hotel in Cleveland, which meant I'd be there for 10 days, or a few days after getting released. I asked my surgeon's nurse if I should rent a recliner. She immediately said, "NO!" Her point was, I won't need one. And I didn't. Like so many here, I was surprised at the speed of recovery. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

christine moody I have had two mitral valve surgeries, one a repair 10 years ago and then a tissue valve replacement in October 2019, at the Cleveland Clinic. OHS is a very big deal, so having it done at a world class hospital is so very important and I am very happy with the Cleveland Clinic. Best wishes to you for a uneventful recovery.
john roland Holy crap Herb looks like you crushed that surgery. Keep up the good work.
Skipper Kagamaster Looking good, Herb! When do they spring you? You look ready to walk on out.
Jennifer Winslow Looking good young man! Congrats on a successful surgery.

Herb Greenberg Lighting and makeup! The hardest part of this so far, for me, has been sleepy bowels, apparently a nasty Side effect of surgery, especially cardiac. Impacts at least 50% of heart surgery patients - the older the more of a possible issue. Last night was not fun and this night is up-in-the-air. Will know soon enough! It starts with constipation as the bowels shut down and ends with diarrhea as they try to fix the constipation. So far my heart is ok, which is what I really care about. I see the floaters many people here have talked about (I already had some so it’s just an extension of what I had) but the biggest thing is when you hear your heart beat. It’s CRAZY. The docs say it’s the result of cutting the pericardial sac, which creates an angry heart, which keeps reminding you that it is pissed. And then, supposedly, it calms down.

john roland Hey Herb, I am in a similar situation with a bicuspid aortic valve and aortic aneurism. Dr. Roselli from the Cleveland Clinic is doing my surgery on April 9th. They told me they would send me a package 6 weeks from my surgery date. You just ruined my surprise package. I guess I have been getting used to it ever since I found out Santa Claus is not real. Anyway I look forward to your posts since I am in the same sled as you 5 weeks out. Good luck, stay strong, and post often.
