Today, on Heart Valve Disease Awareness Day, let's raise awareness to this under-diagnosed disease and celebrate the life-saving heart valve surgery of Daphine, a courageous 12-year old girl from Uganda!

As Heart Month continues to raise much-needed awareness to heart disease, I'm excited to be in Chicago today for a special celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago, Illinois.

Today, Friday, February 7, you are invited to join our community which is in full support of the "Go Red for Women" campaign. This wonderful initiative was created to raise awareness to women's heart disease and unite communities that are fighting for the eradication of heart disease and stroke. As you can see below, heart valve experts from all over the United States are showing their support to fight cardiac disease which accounts for 1 in 3 female deaths every year.

In a recent patient survey, we learned that 53% of patients are not aware of the critical role that an interventional cardiologist plays within a heart team.

Heart disease kills one in three women every year. That said, we are doing our best to raise awareness to this troublesome issue by speaking at congressional meetings in Washington, DC, supporting the "Go Red for Women" awareness initiative, and posting educational content specific to women's heart health.

I'm excited to share that the date and the headliner for the annual "Rock From the Heart" event has been announced. This special community event will be held February 22, 2025, at the Palace Theatre in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This event supports Rock From the Heart's mission to raise awareness of aortic and heart valve disease while bringing the community together through the power of music.

Dear Patients and Friends,

As many of you know, I love to try and grow vegetables. For many years, I failed miserably. Nothing went right. I grew the wrong varieties for our climate. I grew the wrong strains that didn't fit in my little garden. I was so bad that I almost gave up.

Wonderful!

So, this is downright wonderful!

As many of you know, Robyn (my wife) and I are addicted to our Peloton bike and treadmill for several reasons. So, on a recent trip to New York City, Robyn and I were very fortunate to attend live Peloton classes that were filmed and simultaneously streamed all over the world. Being in the production of a Peloton class is really fun. Simply imagine that you are on a movie set while being coached by elite fitness instructors and sweating your arse off. :)
