Yesterday I hosted my own โCelebration of Lifeโ party with many friends who were indispensable to me during my pre-, during and post-surgery periods, but who have meant everything to me for many years and many reasons anyway. I thought, heck, why wait until we die to tell the people we love what they mean to us? It was supposed to be a pool party/bbq outside but some freak cold front swept through and pushed us all inside (all except the kids, who will swim in anything! :)
It was great fun and a wonderful opportunity for people from different parts of my life whoโve never met to connect and hear why I value each one of these precious friends as if they were family. ๐ฅฐโค๏ธ

Denise Kirchner Hi Sue. I think your incision is healing nicely! My surgery was in September 2016. This photo was taken poolside 9 months later in June 2017 with my 2 year old granddaughter Coralynn while vacationing on Marco Island. Nancy Bukowski I am doing well, Sue! Trying to get back to my desk job next week, which is the six week mark for me. Looking to start cardio rehab soon once I get cleared from the surgeon (appt is on 7/15). Canโt complain- except for the no swimming- but that is a small price to pay. My chest is still sore on one side, however nothing unbearable. Please continue to keep us posted on your progress. Iโm sure that you are very happy to be recovering๐.

Larry Peterson Sue, up until now the recliner just works better. In the early weeks after surgery, I had a very hard time getting in and out of a regular bed without feeling like I was severely straining my sternum. And I had a difficult time sleeping on my back in a bed- not painful, just couldn't get to sleep. I'm about to try it again- my restrictions come off next Thursday so I can sleep on my side again.
Sue Maize Good luck with the transition Larry! Let us know how it goes! ๐๐ป

Larry Peterson Hi Sue and Betsy - I'm 7 months post surgery and still using the recliner a lot of nights, more for my lower back pain now than sternotomy issues. No chest problems now but the recovery did a number on my lower back due to lack of stretching and I'm slowly recovering from a nasty bout of piriformis and sciatica. Betsy, I love my recliner, brand is Catnapper and has leather fabric. Has a power remote attached to a cord and allows for separate adjustment of feet, torso, and head. Also has heat and massage, which I don't use much. Expensive but worth every penny to me.
