I've been pretty quiet since June of last year, and here's why. This little guy showed up in August! Life goes on after surgery; I promise! (And it's a cute life to boot, sometimes.)
Didn't get to say much on the photo caption, so I'll say a little in a comment. I'm going to give a full update of my impressions on this crazy ride when I hit my year anniversary, but I thought I'd post this for now because ... well, probably because... Read more.

3 months post op; celebrating our anniversary by a nice kayak session on the lake. I feel great, considering!
Lake Nockamixon; we might go back to fish there in the near future (just passed a battery of tests for my academic program, so it's time for a quick break!).

Headed home; Lord willing to a full recovery. We got the word back on the valve: no regurgitation! So at least the surgery was a success. I'm on a lot more meds than I would have liked, but such is surgery. I'll write up impressions later. For now, I thin
Love the shirt! Glad you're headed home. Safe travels!
Wow you had a Mitral Valve Repair? Just two days post-op?! Was it OHS & a full sternotomy? Sooo happy that everything went so well for you!! You look amazing and I love the T-Shirt! All the best with your continued recovery!!❤️

You do look amazing! I'm so impressed! There's no place like home
Wow! You didn't even warm the sheets! I was in icu for 6 days! I did have a full sternotomy and woops, my lung collapsed but still...that's amazing!
hey, since you are up and looking so strong could you give the person behind you a hand with the trash? JK-that's my sad sense of humor!
Its amazing to me that you have already gone home. Congratulations! Listen to your body and have a great recovery.
Fantastic, You trying to set a record, well, I think you got it all around. From Day 1 picture & now home! Wow.
Thanks for the encouraging words, everyone. I love being home; I just have to learn to pace. If I'm not constantly getting better, I think I must be doing something wrong. Trying to take it an hour at a time and not put too high of expectations on myself.
Take it a DAY at a time. It's okay to have days where you are just stable...that is part of recovery.
Awesome! I'm so happy that things are going well for you!
Wooo-Whooo!!!! Go Skipper! Go!!! The "other side" looks awfully good on you! Yes, be careful of those meds. As one who struggled getting off the post-op Vicodin, it's best to wean off them sooner than later. I imagine your medical team is providing you some good coaching on that. Other... Read more.
Congratulations on your surgery and continuing recovery. I too have MVR and my dr has suggested a TTE for further investigation. I come here for inspiration when I get scared about new findings. I have had it 16 years now. I sometimes think what if they can't fix mine? Again... Read more.
