Hi y'all 👋 I'm reporting back from a mini-sternotomy last Wednesday at CC with Dr Svensson and team. He repaired my bicuspid aortic valve and replaced my ascending aorta with a Dacron graft. I was in the ICU for two days because of a lack of beds o

Wonderful report and you look great!! I hope you do well with recovery and can enjoy those days off. You might try putting a pillow under your knees. It seems to take some tension off of your spine. Hang in there for a bit. You'll be curled up in that... Read more.

Never in a billion years would I think you just had open heart surgery. Can I have what you're having?! As for restful sleep, besides the wedge, extra pillows or a recliner, it is matter of time.

Pillows are the key. Surround yourself with several under your arms etc. That seemed to help me a lot. I am a side sleeper but slept on my back for some time after surgery. And use your heart pillow as well when you sleep. Good luck!

I had trouble getting comfortable to sleep too. I rolled as far as I could onto my right side and husband put a thin pillow behind me. Then I could rest. Also, if I rolled, I didn't go all the onto my back.
