Terrie Syvertsen  Daniel. Love the photo of the bridge. Born and raised in Oakland, Calif. I played baseball with my Brothers in the street which you could see both the Oakland Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge from the hills. I used to take the bus across and imagine the dragons lurking beneath the bridge which could come and get me at any moment as the bus sped along the roadway! I never biked it though and I bet that would be awesome. Love your photos and happy that you are doing what you love here near your 11th. month too!

Daniel Spurgeon  The size of this bridge is deceptively small in pictures but huge in person. The grey line in the bottom left corner is a gravel road next to the bridge's foundation.

Terrie Syvertsen  Daniel. Great that you are able to return to the outdoor bike. Your photos are breathtakingly awesome! I am also on the recumbent bike and have to wait a few weeks for my sternum to heal up better before being able to lean into the handle bars. While I envy your ability to take the outdoor paths that you take I am happy just thinking I will be able to return at first to the 5 mile circling of my community Park across the street. Great that you have progressed so far in your healing. I am wondering if you would consider letting me draw from a couple of these bike photos a stencil for my block printing which I would of course give you a bunch of my stationary cards of the print when it is done? Or I might try a 9 x 12 carving of the entire photo is it is ok. Look on my photo page(Terrie Syvertsen) at the dog and frog prints and click on the photo to see enlargement of the carvings for a sample of what I would like to do with your photo especially the one above. Sure, you can use the bike pictures for whatever you want. If you want the digital file maybe Adam can help me email it to you. I'm glad you also enjoy bicycling, it has been a great way for me to get fresh air since my hip issues made hiking less fun.

  Happy to hear that you are getting back to your passion....what great scenery to take a bike ride in. Life is good!

Daniel Spurgeon  As much as I'd love to exaggerate, the 1,300 foot gain was not that difficult when using my lower gears and focusing on a steady cadence.

Duane Beeman  Is that Beaver as in float plane ? I've flown into Canada on a few of those bad boys, Twelve cylinder work horses.

Daniel Spurgeon  I never was a pilot, I've always been involved in the maintenance side of aviation in the reserves. That beaver is one that Trail Ridge Air used to drop me off for a day of fishing a few years ago.

Duane Beeman  Dan: I've done 13 fly-in fishing trips into Canada.....a week each time. Went as far north as the Northwest Territories once. LOVE IT !! Most of those Beavers are from the 1940's aren't they ??? do they still build them ?

Daniel Spurgeon  deHavilland stopped producing them in1967, but Kenmore Air still refurbishes and upgrades them in Washington. I highly recommend the book "The Beaver," which contains an interesting history of the plane and the thought that went into its development. For example, the cargo door was sized large enough to allow an oil drum to be rolled onboard at locations where a forklift or dolly wasn't available.

Daniel Spurgeon  This site truncated my message; the point of which was that despite seven surgeries since 2012, including OHS last August, that I refuse to let my body's quirks render me inactive, and I hope you all stay active too.

Terrie Syvertsen  Daniel-My surgery was last August as well but I had a few "sternum" issues that kept me back from exercising fully and just got back on my outdoor bike yesterday(5 miles) and today (5 miles) and will be swimming starting this month. I thought of you yesterday when the heat was getting to me and then all of the photos you have taken of various places you have ridden (Bike photos that I have sketched two already for block printing) and I just laughed and kept pedaling as I know that for me, at this time,
it is a new appreciation of what I can NOW DO and what I will be doing from now on as long as I am able, NOT "What I used to be able to do."
