Mark your calendars!  This Thursday, February 22, 2018, is National Heart Valve Disease Awareness Day!

“Why have a day dedicated to heart valve disease awareness?” you might be wondering.

Well… Consider that 5 million people in the United States alone have heart valve disease. However, 40% of American adults have never even heard of heart valve disease. Uggh! Double Uggh! Triple Uggh! Here’s a video about this special day!

 

 

For this reason, over 20 organizations have come together to raise awareness and fight heart valve disease. To learn about all the great online and offline events planned for this special day, here are several links to help you:

February 22 National heart valve awareness day Ironic for me Feb.22 2010 is the day I had my aortic heart valve replaced with a bovine valve and i am still going strong thanks to Dr David Hill at Hartford hospital. digging up dasies not pushing them up horay.

If you were born with two valves and the third will never grow …Is that heart Valve Disease?

I had my bicuspid aortic valve replaced Oct 16, 2017. I was born with its had a pigs valve put in. I feel great. I’m only 63. I feel lucky to have come thru OPH surGery fine.i feel the best That I have in a long time. I never New I was born with it until I was 50 and had a stroke brought in by a clotting issue. That’s when they found my heart problem when they did a Ech TEE.
