2 years and 1 month post op. I had my follow-up with my EP and he reported no AFIB which was great to hear. I celebrated by going to Disney World and walking about 12 miles a day for 5 days straight. I will drink a congratulatory beer here and there but continue avoiding alcohol and I have seen many positive effects. To those who are starting on the path, you are not alone and there will be good and bad days. I set small goals and try and achieve them throughout the year.
Valerie Allen Congratulations! My goal is to go to DisneyWorld in the next year too!

Had my follow up appointment with my EP. He is pleased with my progress and took me off Eliquis and will evaluate my other beta blocker in 3 months. Dealing with arrhythmias was something I never faced before my surgery but is part of my reality today, my goal is to be here as long as possible and it's a small bump along the road but has contributed many positive lifestyle changes. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! A festivus for the rest of us.

Rose Madura Great news! Praying the ablation was successful.

Raul Maus So I have an ICD installed due to a vtach 10 days after surgery. My EP mentioned I rarely had AFIB so ablation or medicine were equally good moves in his opinion. I'm coming up on 60 days and no issues yet with AFIB(still on Sotalol though).

I had my 14 month post op echo; looks like everything is holding up well. I had a bout of Atrial Fibrillation that has me working with my EP. It looks like I'm getting an ablation at the end of October. I'm making more of an effort to stay healthy and am just being patient. To those who are about to go on this adventure, just take it a day at a time.

10 months post op.I spent 5 days walking all over DC and never was short of breath. I have encountered some anxiety over the longevity of these results but my cardiologists assured me that this is common and set me up to talk to their clinic's social worker(UTSW). Hope everyone is doing well and keeps up the fight!

Marie Myers Recovery is an emotional and physical process, and I still find myself occasionally wondering “ how long will this last”? (It has been 7 years for me) We just have to accept that there is no definite answer to that question. So I try my best just to live every day as it comes, and try not to worry about the numerous “what if’s” that can happen. I also speak to a mental health counselor to help me through my journey. Wishing you all the best!

Sue Maize I so appreciate the frankness of so many of your posts. I can’t imagine facing so much of the unexpected that comes with OHS without the wise and honest counsel of those who’ve been there. I look forward to every one of your posts Marie. 💕

Coming up on 6 months, my ejection fraction went up 10% and am approaching normal values. I'm currently on 50mg metoprolol, 5mg lisinopril , 12.5mg spironolactone, and a baby aspirin. My cardiologist increased me to 50mg and I'm tolerating it well. My next echo is in 6 months I believe. I am grateful for so many things this year.
