After a one day delay I am finally wearing my On-X mechanical valve. Surgery was smooth after a 2.5 hour delay with the insertion of the prostate cather. First post op night was spent sleeping well.....one hour at a time. Have no idea why sleep sessions were so short. Had my first walk today....100 feet and was totally wore out. The staff thinks I did great. I am feeling much better today than I was expecting so baby steps would make me happy. Dr. Ryan at the Heart Hospital Baylor/Plano did an exceptional surgery and highly recommend him as a surgeon. I am loving my heart pillow today. Thank you for all the support, prayers, and friendship on this web site. Adam created a much needed asset for anyone facing heart valve surgery, and the people on this site have been great with the encouragement provided. I thank each of you and pray that God will continue his blessings to each of you.

This is my first posting to the site, but have been watching it for about 2 months. I have been impressed with all the exchange of information. I have pretty much moved from the shock phase of two months ago and have progressed to the "let's get this over with" phase. If nothing changes I guess that will happen next on April 6 at 7:30 am. Have to report at 5:30 am. I don't usually get up that early unless I am going fishing, but expect I will get plenty of sleep as the day progresses. I will be out there lurking and reading all the posts. Expect you will hear from me sometimes. I am inspired by all your posts to the site and proud to join the community.
