Seventy two year old male. Retired : military helicopter pilot (20 years), state employee (17 years, and farmer (25 years). Live on farm about 2 miles from Texas-Oklahoma border. Valves have been monitored for the last couple of years. Was told last year that I would probably need surgery sometime in the next 5 years. Here it is one year later and it is time. Mostly tired all the time with ache and or tightness in the chest. Decided on the On-X (carbon heart valve) mechanical Aortic Valve. Dr. Ryan will make decision during the surgery whether to repair the Mitral Valve during the surgery. Having a new Aortic Valve may correct the existing problem with the Mitral Valve. Keeping my fingers crossed.
