My multi-purpose service dog and me in my hospital bed after my open heart surgery. I'm clutching my heart bear and my Service dog is very gentle. I woke up two days after my surgery due to complications and it also happened to be my 25th birthday.

Wow! I had my open heart surgery 11 days after my 68th birthday. I had an aortic root replacement and an Edwards Lifesciences aortic tissue valve replacement. I did the tissue valve because my lead surgeon said I would not have to be on Warfarin after about 6 month. Well...here... Read more.

I have just joined! Nice to meet you! I am a 25 year old mechanical mitral valve recipient from Oklahoma, USA. I make educational videos about my journey on YouTube and found this site from your YouTube channel- which I watch frequently! Thanks for inspiring me to share my story!

Welcome Erica, glad you are in recovery now. Sorry you had to go at it twice but it was worth it. This site is and have been a lifesaver for a lot of us. Continued recovery and good health and God bless you
