About Me (In My Own Words)
I share more details and videos of my story on my YouTube channel.
I went on a multiple year diagnosis journey. Away from home, in Miami, Florida, I was diagnosed with severe mitral stenosis. I then had a mitral balloon valvuloplasty by Dr. DeMarchena from the university of Miami. Thirty days later at my follow up, the procedure was deemed ineffective and I was scheduled for open heart surgery in Oklahoma. I got the On-X mechanical mitral valve and I now take 12mg of warfarin/Coumadin to maintain my INR. I am still healing and battling symptoms but I’m so thankful for the second chance of life!
