Kelly Stoll That's so sweet Judy. It's nice that you will share this journey together. The last request I made as they were prepping me for OHS was to borrow a stethoscope so my husband could hear my heart murmur one last time. It's was a comfort for him. Upside we had a special moment we will share alwaus. Downside all the nurses told eachother. :)

Judy Shaw Susan - No not too bad. I did have an episode afterwards where my bp dropped to 77/49 then my husband called the nurse because I felt faint. They came quick and laid my down. After dropping to 50/39 it came back up. They said it happens sometimes after the procedure.
Debbie - Thank you so much.

Judy Shaw I'm sorry Chris. Didn't mean to scare you. It may not happen to you but if it does make sure you tell your nurse asap. They will come running. I started seeing stars, my hearing felt muffled and started sweating all at once. All it took to recover was drop my head lower than my feet for a couple minute.
Sending calming thoughts to you. Stay positive.

Gregory, they used my right wrist, too, but not sure if they always do. The nurse told me they did it through the right so they could use my left wrist for the arterial line, which they also put into my neck. The wrist arterial line stayed in for a day after I left ICU and the neck came out the day I left the hospital (three days after surgery). I told the nurse that I didn't want anything by mouth and she said that was fine. They did put me out for the actual cath procedure, though.
