Daniel Kung Hi Briana: Thank you so much for sharing your experiences at Mount Sinai. My OHS will also be at Mount Sinai on 12/7 to repair my aortic valve and replace my enlarged ascending aortic artery with Dacron graft stent. My surgeon will be Dr. Allan Stewart. It is reassuring to know that you and others went to Mount Sinai all had very positive experiences there! By the way, it is wonderful to see you with a big smile on your face while still in CICU. Wish you a speedy and smooth recovery!

Briana Morgan I actually cried. I can't believe I was so attached. I think it was just all the emotions about everything else that I have been holding in coming out.

Rita Savelis I remember when I cut my hair (may years ago) before chemotherapy and it was so very very emotional. Maybe worse than everything else.
In hospital, for OHS, it did help to keep hair in an elastic. I didn't worry about washing it for weeks, but having it tied back was necessary....
Briana Morgan Thank you, Phyllis and Rita! It is good to hear your experience and what helps in the hospital.

Diane Zeigler When I was in the hospital they would wash my hair in something like a shower cap. No water was needed and it didn't need rinsing. I was amazed at how well it worked as I usually have to wash it at least every other day.

Phyllis Petersen It's all an emotional roller coaster for everyone. Although we know we need it done, it's still hard and every added stress is going to be magnified. You have a good surgeon in a good facility and soon you'll be on the other side of surgery and recovering nicely. I was fortunate to be able to shower a few days after surgery, because they felt I was steady enough on my feet. Keep a positive attitude and speak up about your needs. You'll do fine!
Briana Morgan Thanks, Phyllis. That's just what I needed today.
Phyllis Petersen You have a whole lot of people rooting for you!
