Was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse 5 or 6 years ago. During this time, the regurgitation progressed from mild to severe. My cardiologist wants me to get a TEE. Am seeking a second opinion from the Cleveland Clinic. My cardiologist FEDEXed my records to CC July 21. CC responded Aug 22. CC agreed that I had severe mitral regurgitation and recommended to repair within 3-6 months. Set surgery date for 11/08. Pre-Op date is week of 10/17 to determine if robotic or open heart surgery is appropriate. Am pretty active for 54. Only symptoms that I have are an occasional heart fluttering and lately, I have been having difficulty swallowing(not sure if that's related). Thank you Adam for the website. Very informative.
