Megan,
I am writing to encourage you through this difficult journey. Trusting God is the heart of the matter, being strong, and believing that you are here for a reason! Modern medical does amazing miracles that you are going to be a part of! It is exciting and fearful, but you will meet new people from this experience and grow exponentially from all you are facing. It is only through adversity that our character truly grows! Drop me a note any time! I am there to give you all the "atta girl, you go girl, and you can do it" times you need!!!
Tammy Pilcher Prayers and best wishes, Megan, for your surgery and recovery! God bless you!

Megan- I hope you are taking it easy today and that you are feeling the support of the community, all either waiting on surgery or on the other side of surgery but none the less thinking of you as your day approaches. I hope your surgery goes well and that you enter into it tomorrow confident of your "Team" and your bodies ability to fight to get you to the other side. Try to get some rest tonight and know that once you are wheeled into surgery it will seem like minutes 'til you wake up again feeling glad to be alive and happier that this waiting is now behind you. Take care and Be Well. Universal Prayers are coming your way even now as you wait..............

Megan, I live just up the street from IMC in Murray. Please message me! We'll do lunch, we can swap stories, talk heart valves, and we can admire our scars. And I will empathize with you as you get stabilized on the Coumadin. (I struggled with my Coumadin levels for several weeks - many people do not understand how hard that is).
I'm a year out from my valve replacement surgery. I too, am a mom, and remember that feeling of panic just before my surgery, as I worried about my daughter. I have a great family support network (one of six kids) and my parents stayed with us during my recovery. And yet, I did feel terribly alone both before and after the surgery.
Just before my surgery last year, a colleague of mine said she'd "hold me in the light" during my surgery and recovery. Holding someone in the light is a Quaker practice, almost meditation-like, where a congregation imagines the person in need being held in God’s loving presence and the group offers prayers and love for them. I found this practice to be quite lovely and healing. And so I will hold you in the light on June 8 and beyond.
Please, email me. I am serious about lunch! In the meantime, just know that a mile up the street from the IMC in Murray, you have a great deal of support.

Megan: Good morning! How are you.....? Do you need anything....? See, things have already changed!. I read your post and story and wish I could give you a hug right now! I think through this community that you will learn how very much you ARE NOT
ALONE. I understand you are frightened especially since you have had surgery on your heart before...Now a Mom. Makes things difficult to not want to stop time and find a really safe place to hide so you don't have to keep thinking about all of this...
But I encourage you to think of all of your strengths and that you have been through this before and your heart is strong enough to get you through it again. I am sure that with all of the love and support you will find in our community that as you grow closer to your surgery date your anxiety will become less and by the day of it your surgery will be over before you know it and you will be headed home to recover. I pray for you that with each coming day your confidence in the "Team" chosen to get you on the other side of this grows more and more so that you can enter surgery with positive and calm thoughts of everyone and everything that is most important in
your life that you will get back to as your Journey continues with a much healthier
outlook. You take care and Be Well.

Hi, Megan
You're not alone. You may feel like you are, but you're not.
I think people don't ask (us) how we're doing, or if we need anything because they're scared too, ergo they don't know what to do, what to say. That doesn't mean they're not concerned about you. You'll discover that the number of people concerned about you is way too high.
Of course things have changed, Life is ever changing. I can understand that you're afraid because now you have children, and you want to be here for your children. So hold on to that in a positive way by saying: "I will be strong not because I can, but because I am. The love that I have for my children is my strength". Be strong not for your children but because of them. Fight with all your might because your life is worth fighting for.
You're almost there. And you're almost here too, on the other side of surgery that is. And remember: the night is darker just before dawn. And fear is darkness, but happiness is light.
Sending you a big, big hug.
