As part of the Northwestern Medicine team, Gyu I. Gang, MD leads the heart surgery program at Central DuPage Hospital and Delnor Hospital in the western suburbs of Chicago. At the University of Chicago Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, Takeyoshi Ota, MD, PhD is an expert in the surgical treatment of aortic disease. Dr. Ota’s research focuses on tissue engineering and developing advanced technologies for heart surgery. Dr. Ota holds two patents, including one for the creation of decellularized tissue. In addition to publishing numerous works in scientific journals, Dr. Ota serves as a reviewer for several publications, including The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Biomaterials and the European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery.
