Pre-op with CT heart scan, blood work and chest X-rays tomorrow for Tuesday's surgery... fingers crossed they don't find anything else wrong with me!

Terry Shermeister Hi Steve, and it's real! But it really was worth the wait and the angst that I experienced. I'm now 12 weeks post op, feeling very good. I am biking swimming, walking and my chest pain is almost nill. I felt relieved once I arrived at the hospital and when it's in the rear view mirror. Prayers and a fast recovery.

Johnny Gonzalez Hey brother.. I know how you feel!! My 2nd OHS is on Monday 8/17 and it's been kicking my butt overthinking and worrying about my kids.. I had Mitral Valve Repair and Aortic Valve Repair when I was around 1yr old. My repair lasted me 36 years and I now have major Aortic Regurgitation and have had Atrial Flutter for 10+ years. I'm going in for an Aortic Replacement with a mechanical valve. Due to my age I learned to adjust to my symptoms through out the years not realizing for severely damaged my valve was. As I am terrified with this OHS, I am truly looking forward to feeling better and getting my life back to a normal state. Your not alone in this journey.. This community has been a blessing for me to hear everyone's stories and experiences. I wish you all the best my brother on your surgery! God Bless You and your loved ones!!!

Ok.. haven't been on here recently. I had my TEE on June 9th and it showed severe regurgitation. Luckily it showed no other problems than the mitral valve. I met with the surgeon and we have surgery set for August 18th. He says 95% chance of repair and pretty good chance he can go in through my right arm pit instead of cracking me open. I am ready for it to get here so I can get it done and get onto the road to recovery!

Cheryl Batzing Steve, I had mitral valve repair in December through my right side/arm pit. Although it's not a piece of cake, recovery was really quite quick and I was bored and working on my laptop after 1.5 weeks. You'll do great. You are in my prayers for a succesful surgery and quick recovery.

Steve, I just had the very same operation. They repaired my mitral valve with a ring and some plastic surgery on leaflets. I spent 4.5 days in hospital. Mine was done in Charlotte, NC. I am two weeks out and doing well. Had some low blood pressure this week but that is better now with adjustment in meds. I am 58 and in very good health. I know you will do well. Best to you.

Jean Raber So, Georgia, Texas, and North Carolina have hospitals that do this. Anybody north of Cincinnati find a hospital that does the armpit thing? Anybody know the name of the procedure so I can talk to health care providers without calling it "the armpit thing"? :-)
