Surgery to repair the aortic root aneuryism is scheduled for Dec 7. Dr Josue Chery at VCU will be doing the surgery. He said they would leave the mechanical aortic valve if possible. If not possible he suggested using a tissue valve. I told him I preferred mechanical. I’ve had this one since 2003. He said over age 65 is when they start using tissue valves. I am 68. He said, though they will do what the patient prefers. Yes, I am some nervous since I’ve done this once and this is a redo.
