About Me

I am an asymptomatic 39 yo male, surprised to be diagnosed with BAVD, moderate regurg, and a 4.9cm aneurism during an echo in January 2015. Since that time, my wife and I looked far and wide for answers. This website, and Adam's book, have been great resources for both of us. I am currently scheduled for surgery at the end of September with Dr. Svennson. He believes there is a 70% chance he can repair the valve while replacing my aorta. If not, I will likely opt for a tissue valve to forgo blood thinners for at least the next decade. Hoping to retain my own valve! More importantly, I am looking forward to getting on the other side of surgery and on the road to recovery so that I can start to refocus my emotional energy on my loving wife and two wonderful sons.
