It’s now 6 weeks post-op and the process continues. Happily a few days ago the constant aches/pain in my chest has finally settled down. I have even been able to get off the acetaminophen. But as you all know, it’s a couple steps forward and then a step back. I now things without thinking and lets just say I stretch my arms out too far and yelp at the pain. I guess everyone goes through this. I also find that I can walk on flat ground almost forever, but any incline totally knocks me out of breath. Like I’ll walk up an incline that’s about 2 flights and be totally winded. After a short break I walk for 3/4 of a mile without any effort. Then I walk up my driveway (about 2 flights) and bang, I am totally out of breath. It’s the second flight, because I walk up a flight of stairs in our house without a second thought. Something new however has shown up. My chest has become hypersensitive. Just a brushing of my t-shirt across the scare causes discomfort. This is strange since the scare hasn’t hurt before (granted I was on pain killer). What’s worse (by far) is bending over. If I drop something, and squat down to pick it up no problem. But, if I start to bend at the waist. ….. OUCH!!!! I’m not even reaching with my arms at that point, just starting to bend at the waist. The pain is right along the scar, though I can’t tell if its skin or bone pain. I know I’m not supposed to be bending but still….
