Nice work. I'm still at the stage where it's an unnerving souvenir of the process. Maybe I won't notice it some day? I doubt that. Mine is also still taped, we think about 18 cm/ 7 1/4 inches.
The scar is an unending reminder, but it has gotten easier over the last year for me. The farther I get from the surgery, the less I think about it. It is all a long slow process.
I hope your healing is going well. I just took the surgical tape off my incision today. With the tape off the actual incision is only 6 1/2 inches.

2 yrs after operation and still restricted chest movement when sleeping on my side and annoying pain from chest braces.
Wow! 2 years and still not comfortable? What do the docs say? And have you seen a pain Doctor? Maybe they can make suggestions? I had a full sternotomy as well, and I did not have continuing pain. It was a couple months before I could sleep comfortably on my... Read more.
I don't know much about the recovery from a full sternotomy, but I would definitely see what your physicians can do for you if the restrictive movement and pain are disrupting your life. I wish you the best of luck in getting the appropriate treatment and resolution.
