Nicholas, Great questions regarding the Ross Procedure. So you know, I had the Ross Procedure done by Dr. Vaughn Starnes in 2005. To answer your questions, my initial recovery was a bit rough. I had a great surgical result but struggled with pain, cardiac depression and a vicodin addiction. Interestingly, I started the website for that reason... To help others avoid the pitfalls I experienced. Twenty years after my Ross Procedure, I'm doing great. I've had no reinterventions, no reoperations and I am on no medication. At my last echocardiogram, my tech said, "This is amazing. Your valves look perfect."
