Hello Adam and everyone else. I have been thinking about a question I ran into a few months ago and have not been able to find much information about. What is the ideal "target" blood pressure after a bicuspid aortic valve replacement surgery? I had one about 15 months ago... Read more.
120/80 in my eyes is what i strive for with my 84 year old repaired mitral valve
After my Ross, they wanted me strictly below 120 systolic for the first year while the pulmonary valve got used to its new job as the aortic valve. I generally swing between 100 & 120. Low blood pressure is defined as below 90/60. Personally, I start getting dizzy spells if... Read more.
And I've always been told to be below 130/80. So who knows. Maybe Marie does....
Not sure what the docs would say, but I am thinking 110-120 systolic is best…As long as you are not getting any symptoms like dizziness or chest pain, lower seems better to me..

Larry, Welcome to the community. I am a fellow BAV with a bovine valve replacement coming up to a year ago. This community was great in answering my questions and I sure you will find it a great asset. Good luck on your journey. Dan
😉 Hey Larry and Dan: I had the mitral valve replaced (76 y.o) by a cow valve in october 2023. Doctors told me that when the valve wear out in 12 to 15 years will be possible to replace it in a "valve in valve" TMVR procedure to avoid open... Read more.
If we were musically inclined, we could start a band called The Aortics! 😉 Many on here have had successful aortic surgeries but we also know the extreme stress. I lived with it full on for a year prior to surgery. This is a place for questions and comfort. You... Read more.
Thank you all for the welcome. Does the search function work well here? Any tricks to searching for and finding information?
Larry, the Learning Center at the top will get you started. If you are looking for hospitals/surgeons the SurgeonFinder under the menu will help. It includes patient reviews. For me it was mostly following links and the Learning Center. Don't miss the videos, they cover so much!
