John Russo Hi! I wasn’t able to get the Ross done because the mitral valve was in worse shape than anticipated & there was a timing issue. Dr El-Hamamsy put in the bovine tissue valve which was larger than anticipated meaning I can most likely have 2 TAVR’s done instead of 1 giving me around 30 years. Still feeling great & heading back to work next week!

Surgery just got postponed until (hopefully ) Monday 10/7. I’m currently at Mt. Sinai for pre-surgery testing & for some unknown reason my liver enzyme levels have spiked dramatically . Now I’m in diagnostic mode until these levels hopefully return to normal. Keeping faith that this corrects itself ❤️🙏🏻

The waiting game is in full swing! I met Dr. Adam’s from Mount Sinai last week who will be one of my surgeons in my upcoming complex OHS. He explained my situation and will be repairing my mitral valve which was damaged due to a bout of endocarditis. The second part of my surgery will be a Ross procedure on my aortic valve performed by Ismail El-Hamamsy. I am so blessed to have the top surgeons in their respective fields handling this operation. Since there will be 2 surgeons and it needs to be performed relatively soon, things need to get juggled around on their end to make this happen. I am so happy to be a part of these amazing Facebook groups:
Aortic Valve Replacement Group
Mitral Valve Repair Patients Group & Endocarditis Support Group as well as www.HeartValveSurgery.com which have helped me through my journey into surgery and will continue through my recovery. Bless you all!
