I hate to bring up a sore subject but have any of you experienced heart rhythm issues after receiving a Covid vaccine shot? I have been a dedicated follower of the recommendations to get the vaccine but after my last dose I have not felt well and am experiencing PVCs-... Read more.

Sorry you have to deal with it- makes me wonder if it caused me problems before but I didn't make the connection. I think it will wear off over time - at least I hope so!

John, let us know how it goes

John, did you get the Pfizer vaccine? I read on their vaccine information sheet under the "Side Effects" section that some people experienced heart issues. I think it stated myocarditis and pericarditis, but I'm not sure without looking at it again. The Moderna vaccine info sheet does not list heart... Read more.

I wore Zio monitors twice in the last several years. The first time before the Covid shot. The second after it. My PVC volume increased, but not quite to the threshold where treatment is required. I have declined all the covid boosters as I'm not convinced anyone is fully aware... Read more.

Thanks for all the comments everyone. I had the Moderna vaccine. I have my next cardiologist appointment early next year so I'm interested what they have to say. I'll also check out the detox. Take care everyone and thank you!

Hi all, wondering if anyone else has dealt with a reduced ejection fraction after mitral valve repair surgery. I had surgery in Dec 2020. As of my last echo in 12/21 the EF was 50% down from 60%+ before surgery though up from 42% right after surgery. Due for another... Read more.
Dear John, I had a repair very recently and my EF went from 60 before to 50% after the surgery which is expected. I hope with time it will rise... It depends on so many factors, mainly the status of ventricle muscle on which our faulty valve has layed stress... Read more.
Thank you!
I note that for mitral valve patients, the EF beforehand can be deceiving. EF measures how much of the left ventricle is ejected or pumped out, BUT it doesn't care whether it goes in the correct direction. So during my severe regurgitation phase (before my successful repair), the EF always... Read more.
I have read in studies that this this happens sometimes... I think the EF before surgery can be falsely high, or deceiving, like Thomas said. And then with time, it can improve after surgery. It sounds like it has improved since your surgery, so that is promising.
Yes Thomas and Janelle, that's right. Hopefully it will go up for us all... :)
I had surgery 10 months ago and my EF is about 50%. The doctor told me my heart seems to be weak. I have another surgery in a couple of weeks. But from all I read is that the EF is often low after surgery. 50% seems pretty common. You... Read more.
Here is a video that discusses reduced ejection fraction after surgery. Mine also decreased to 50% after the repair.

Thanks for all the comments. I had another follow up echo done and my EF is still 50 and there are some heart wall abnormalities. I think bottom line there was probably damage due to the MVP. Thanks again for the notes!

Adam, I watched your interview about the maze procedure which was fantastic. Wondering how the maze procedure differs from a surgical procedure related to the left atrial appendage. This is what I had when I had my mitral valve repair. Long story short, it didn't resolve my Afib and other... Read more.
