I will be having the Ross Procedure this coming Wednesday, September 18th, at Baylor Heart Hospital in Plano, Texas. I grateful for a strong support team and family. It has been 42 years since I have stayed the night in the hospital so I have more anxiety about hospital stays and needles then I do about the surgery itself.

Richard Munson Good luck, do what they tell you and yes, they will take a bunch of blood. All hours of the night. The key is to walk, walk, walk. Don’t baby your heart but don’t over tax it either. Your body tells you whats too much. I was told and believe it to be true, that walking is the best medicine, plus a positive attitude. Also don’t pay too much attention to how many days so and so was in the hospital or how soon mary sixpack ran the marathon. We are all different and heal at different rates. Have fun.
John Russo Good luck! I’m having a Ross as well. Waiting for my date

I am getting ready to schedule the Ross Procedure to address aortic stenosis and an enlarged aorta. I plan to have the surgery at Baylor, Scott, and While Heart Hospital in Texas. While I have had lifelong aortic value issues, I have enjoyed living without symptoms but annual cardiology assessments since I was 4 years old. I will appreciate any additional support this community can provide. Gratefully, Gary
Great to meet you! Fyi, I had the Ross Procedure done nearly 19 years ago. Since then, I have had no reoperations. And, at my recent annual echocardiogram last Thursday... My aortic and pulmonary valves were working perfectly!!!!
So you know, I am very familiar with the BSW Team. In fact, here is a video about the Ross Procedure that I filmed with Dr. Bill Brinkman from BSW. Who is doing your Ross Procedure? ... Read more

Allen Carkner I too am a Ross procedure patient. I’m at 16 months out and feel great. I will have my sternal wires removed soon just because they’re a bit too irritating for me and clearly visible on my sternum. This is a quick procedure.Other than that I couldn’t be happier with my decision. Best of luck to you! Feel free to ask questions if you have any.

Gary Davis Thank you Adam, Allen, and Grace! Dr. Brinkman is doing my Ross Procedure. I am more anxious for the IV's and blood draws than I am for the open heart surgery or recovery. I have battled a life long needle phobia so I am working with Dr. Brinkman and his RN to help with day before testing and surgery day. Allen, how long were down after surgery? I have been told to expect about 8 weeks before returning to work. I am signed up for cardiac rehab. Gratefully, Gary
