Hi everyone, I also wanted to share with everyone that I also have scoliosis which limits my neck movement a bit. I’m concerned about the intubation and have asked to speak with my anesthesiologist. I’m waiting for his callback. Any feedback around this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Rita Savelis Speaking with an anasthesiologist is a great idea. He/she can answer all your questions. In France (where I live) it is obligatory to have a an anasthesiologist appt before surgery. She was the one who told me that cutting a sternum was not painful and explained the details of surgery. I did not have pain (only discomfort and exhaustion). I was also able to discuss past experiences with anasthesia with her in order to have the right concoction for me. Take care.

Marie Myers I was a nurse anesthetist for 44 years, and we were always concerned about possible “difficult airways”. Speaking to the anesthesiologist should allay some of your fears. The anesthesiology department will meet with you to assess your airway in person. A plan will be in place for difficult airway, and there are many new technologies available for just such occasions. Hope that helps!
