About Me

About 2 1/2 years ago in Oct. of 2018 I was diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve and severe aortic stenosis. I was 52 at the time and this was discovered by my primary care physician at a routine physical when he heard a heart murmur. I had never had a heart murmur or any health issues and this diagnosis was a total shock. We have been watching and waiting since then but I finally started having symptoms upon exercise about 3 months ago in Nov. 2020. Surgery is now needed and I will have an aortic valve replacement. I am having the surgery done at the Cleveland Clinic and I have chosen the Edwards Inspiris Resilia tissue valve. I will be just 2 months shy of age 55 when I have my surgery. I want to thank Adam for creating this wonderful site, as I have been visiting it often since my diagnosis. It has given me a tremendous amount of information and offered comfort, support, and optimism. I thank everyone for that. I have been through a whirlwind of emotions since my diagnosis but the time has arrived and I am ready to get this done.
