Peggy Whitecotton It has been my understanding that a thoracotomy is very painful because of cutting through muscles and nerves. I had a full sternotomy and I will say that I fell and broke 2 ribs a few months after OHS and it hurt to breathe, couldn’t lay down or sit without severe pain in some ways worse than the surgery pain. So I only only imagine what you had to deal with. Even my surgeon said sternotomy was less painful. At least I could take a deep breath just NO coughing or sneezing 🤧 😂

Diane Maher Thanks so much for posting this Jennifer. Wow! I have not read anything about this procedure, and wasn’t too sure about what you had gone through other than you saying it was suppose to be more painful than opening the chest. Wow, again. How long is your incision?
Eight weeks!! Can’t believe how quickly time has flown by! Good grief....this means in 8 weeks I will be about a month into my recovery. 😂😂. It still seems so surreal at this point that, yes, that is all I can do at this point is laugh. Still staying in the moment ....walking, breathing exercises, visiting with our son who is over from London....
The dawn of reality will come soon enough but first a reread of all of your wonderful posts. 😊

Guess who drove Mustang Sal on this lovely Tuesday afternoon? Me! I think Maddie was more excited than I was. Felt good to get behind the wheel after nearly 7 weeks. It was a little tough getting in and out of the car, but I had a blast cruising.😎
