It's been a while since I checked in, but this coming Tuesday marks my 6 month anniversary of OHS (bicuspid aortic valve replacement) from The Cleveland Clinic & Dr Roselli.
All of my pre-op symptoms are gone and my scar continues to heal up nicely. I'm still working on my drain tube scar (I call it my extra bellybutton BBOTN - Belly button of the north). I do feel some pulling and stretching and some.pain through my upper chest & rib area when I get into certain positions or try to move in a certain way, but that's pretty much all the bad stuff. I do get some ocular migraines still, but they're getting less frequent.
After cardiac rehab, I stopped exercising for a bit, life & work got busy, but hoping to ramp it up a bit now that the weather is starting to break.
Hope all you heart warriors are doing well & if you're just going through it, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Robert Miller That "scar" looks really good and looks very short. You won't be able to brag about your OHS showing your chest... I still have some spasms here and there 2 years after OHS. I suspect it will never go away but at least in my case it's not a big deal as it's somewhat minor and goes away after a few hours or max a day or so.

Richard Munson Thats a better looking scar than my minimally invasive. Did you use vanishing cream ? I got a spasm the other day after 4 years but i unpluged the toaster with my hands wet so it could be that.
Geoff Curtis I haven't used any creams, that healing has all been on its own.

Richard Munson One tip i found is that at my doctors office after they do my annual echo i can read everything they found on my patient portal. I can then look at it as well as the last one i had to make my own comparisons. After my mitral valve surgery i started paying closer attention and noticed that i had an aortic aneurism that was admittedly only 4.1 cm. When i asked about it, they said yes, but its no where near the dangerous stage, plus you are 6-5 which makes it less critical. I actually said, do you think maybe i might have wanted to know. Some folks want to know very little, i want to know everything. I said at one point to my cardiologist who is great by the way that he must hate to see me coming with my list of questions. He surprised me and said he prefers it.

Rose Madura I agree (once again) with Richard. You are in the driver's seat here. But if you can wait, I'd say waiting for the CC (abbreviation. For Cleveland Clinic Richard ) is worth it. God bless you on this journey. We are here for you.
