Good luck, I just had mine done on the 16th of September at age 38. I opted for the on-x mech valve since it may offer lower one range. going home today, first 2 days are rough day 3 is much better once tubes come out of stomach and day 3 I opted for no pain killers and was able to lap the ward a few times. think u and I may have similar recovery paths, but don't hesitate to take the Percocet.... Take care Onward with ones and an Indian diet!

Hi Tapan, I will certainly be praying for your upcoming surgery and will be watching your progress. Your story is so similar to mine although my aortic aneursym was just detected by an angiogram. My cardiologist says I need surgery sooner than later and a surgeon will be calling me sometime this week. I am pretty much asymptomatic too and thought I had years to go. My aneurysm is at 4.7 and I'm interested to know what was yours sized at. My family is more worried than I am. I feel confident we will both make it through although it will be somewhat rough. Please take care.

Tapan Mehta My aneurysm is currently at 5.1 (at root) and goes up to 4.6 in ascending aorta. So I will be going through CVG (composite valve graft) which will fix both the aortic aneurysm and the valve. I have opted for a mechanical valve (only 43 yrs old).

Tapan Mehta Also my surgeon did offer to repair my valve (T-David procedure) but he said the repair will last only 8-10 years at best. Frankly I want to avoid another re-op if possible and hence opted to go with valve replacement (mechanical valve).
