Hello.this is Lori's sister. Just wanted to update Lori's progress because this site has been a wealth of information and support to Lori and her family. Lori's surgery took 5 hours and the surgeon was able to successfully repair her mitral valve and perform the ablation procedure for the A-fib. She went to CCU and the entubation tube was removed 6 hours after surgery. Today she was taken off the morphine and on a different pain medication. She able to sit in the recliner for 3 hours and has started using the spirometer. Aside from a little nausea she is doing well. We thank everyone for your prayers and well wishes.

Tonight I whispered your name in God’s ear and asked He send an angel or two to be near you and hold your hand. I prayed that God be by your side and watch over you. I asked that He rain favor upon you and keep you safe. Know that I love you and that you are in my heart and prayers.

Lori-Prayers for a smooth successful surgery for you tomorrow and know you have the support and prayers from many people who will be here for you now and as you enter your recovery period to follow your journey forward. Be confident in your surgeon and his team who will help you get to the other side of this and back into a healthier place. Hope you have a good evening tonight and manage to get some sleep.

Hi Lori! I found you on this page after doing a search in the site you linked me to. I know you are scared...a little bit of fear is good sometimes since it prompts you to do your research. You are such a smart lady and I'm sure you've found a great surgeon to do this repair. In a couple days you will be posting news that will help the next person in queue for surgery. It's nice to see all the positive posts as I'm sure that makes you feel better about what lies ahead. The 'unknown' is always scarier than the 'known'. I love you and will be thinking about you on surgery day!

Hi Lori - I'm headed into surgery tomorrow and I'm also at peace with it. The waiting was definitely more challenging, but now I feel calmer then I expected. If you haven't already, try visualizing something relaxing ( guided imagery type process) and head into your surgery with confidence.
