Eleanor R  Hi, Geri and Anna. I had the same vision things, but for me it was before surgery (and afterwards). I had it checked out before surgery, to make sure it was not related. In my case, it was colorful lights, they call it "flashing lights" and in my case again, it was kind of a normal aging retina thing (I'm 68). Apparently the liquid we have behind our eyes serves a useful purpose when we are being created, but not so useful after birth. This liquid or gel sometimes pulls away from the back of the retina wall, much like wallpaper pulling off (according to the retina specialist I was sent to). Once it is off, one may have "floaters" which is part of the liquid gel which floats around into our line of vision. In my case it was nothing to do with surgery, as it was there before, and afterwards. Nothing much to do, just to call the specialist if it gets worse or bothers me. It comes and goes, and has fortunately gone for now, for a while at least. Hope you all figure out what's causing yours, and that it is nothing serious. Best wishes, Eleanor

Anna Thomasq  Mike, Thanks so much for your comment! I just saw it and that's so good to know. I was under for quite awhile and have had anesthesia almost every year for about five now, at least, so that makes sense.

Anna Thomasq  Thanks! I've tried. Mt. Sinai does have several good rates, but I think we're going to have to get a room in mid-town. My mom is insisting (and I'm grateful) that she comes too and it's been hard finding something other than one king bed. My son is good with a sleeping bag or bed.

Anna Thomasq  I'm so glad that everything has gone so well for you and appreciate the post. The Cleveland Clinic would be quite far for us and right now, we're consulting with some wonderful doctors in Plano, Texas and St. Louis, MO. Relatively equal distance for us and this is still going to be problematic. One we'll deal with, but I'm quite confident in both facilities. Thank you again for you post!

Anna Thomasq  Thanks Linda and no, I haven't tried Cleveland Clinic yet, but I have about four more copies of my scans and reports, so I think I will try to contact someone from there and see if I get a response. I appreciate your advice. Thank you for the prayers!

Anna Thomasq  Thank you for that Heidi. I think we pretty much realize that we're going to have to go with that option. I talked to a nurse at Northwestern today and they and a doctor at Mt. Sanai will be looking at my scans. I have to hope that someone is interested in this case. It's a little scary not to find anyone else with this condition. Thank you so much for your response!

Anna Thomasq  I have been talking to some wonderful surgeons in St. Louis. Dr. Luis Sanchez has offered to do the first procedure and Dr. Marc Moon the second procedure. Did you have the thoracotomy or a different procedure. My husband has family in Kansas City, but none in St. Louis, that I know of. I hope you are well!
