Dr Gillinov thinks the irregularity will get better as heart heals and, at 4 weeks postop, I don't have as many palpatations.....guess time will tell. Do they use single or dual lead pace makers to treat this?

Alan - I'm heading down to Cleveland on Monday with surgery scheduled on Thurs. I trust you are long gone!

Got back home Tuesday night and celebrated Thanksgiving at home. Ask the nurses in the ICU step down unit who did the most walking during their stay the week before Thanksgiving.....that'd probably be me:) Even though I still have some residual regurgitation, Dr. Gillinov is pretty confident it will reduce... BTW, if u gotta be in the hospital, don't know if u can beat the Cleveland Clinic experience. All the best for a speedy recovery after surgery.

Wow, what a whirlwind for you! I think I'm ready and am surprisingly calm... however, I know the tension will mount as the week progresses. You did great and am glad you made it home for the holiday.

Don't get uptight about the surgery. I had a short prayer with hospital chaplain and went in OR remarkably calm. Besides, I can guarantee U there's probably a greater chance of death in just driving to work with all the people trying to text and drive nowadays !!!!!
