How It Works: Tissue Heart Valve Replacement Assembly

Have you ever wondered, “How is a tissue heart valve replacement assembled?”

If so… This video of the Avalus tissue valve, which I just came across on YouTube, might be interesting to you.  Although there is no sound in the video, it’s really quite amazing to see how the different elements of this valve come together including the frame, the leaflets and the stitching.

I don’t know about you but I found this video really helped me better understand and visualize the assembly process of this specific valve.

There are many other valve types (e.g. mechanical valves) made by different medical companies. So, I imagine each valve replacement may have its own unique and proprietary process for heart valve manufacturing and assembly.
